EXPOCINE's second day of programming, Latin America's largest film and audiovisual business convention, explored issues relevant to the future of the sector in Brazil. The auditorium of the Renaissance Hotel began the day with a debate on the VOD regulation and the expectations for the approval of the bill that follows in progress at the National Congress. For Marcos Barros, president of ABRAPLEX, the approval of the project will be beneficial for the entire audiovisual production chain in the country, contributing to its development.

"Bringing this market to contribute to the sector is clearly beneficial. It's a way to solve the asymmetries, make things fairer, but at the same time it's a way to make our business grow. These resources should be used to keep our business growing, so that we have more movies, more series. So we can have our whole chain running better."

Another highlight was the panel Majors' Great Decisions for the Next 10 Years, who brought together Warner Bros. executives. Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Paris Movies to talk about the main strategies that will guide decision-making by distributors in the future. Marcio Fraccaroli, CEO of Paris Filmes, highlighted that forming a new generation of audience through national productions, and not only international productions, is essential for the sector to continue in growth.

"Brazil has a need for public training in the national film industry. Brazilian cinema with so much investment, with so many talented people, has to contribute to the formation of public. I know that we still have difficulty finding children's films, nor do we have a habit of counting books in movies, but Brazilian cinema has to have this vocation of forming an audience. The national cinema, in recent years, has been appropriated by an already formed audience, who has already arrived in the cinema enjoying an American production, experience, talent. But now we're in this place so comfortable, that Brazil is fashionable. We just won an Oscar, for example. We must take this moment to empower, build pride and build good stories to make people feel the need to see themselves on screen again." , highlighted Fraccaroli.

The Z generation and its way of consuming audiovisual content was also discussed on this programming day. Director Daniel Rezende, one of the participants of the panel, stressed that the most important thing is to understand what young people are consuming, but without letting these data limit audiovisual creations.

"It is always very good to understand what the Z generation is seeing, but never let it limit our creations. Because otherwise we'll be in a big number repetition. We don't create, we don't instigate or stimulate our audience to think and see other things. If we think about how to communicate with all public profiles, including the Z generation, we can add strength to have space for different formats, such as films, soap operas, edits and stories on social networks"He explained.

In the programme of distributors at Cine Marquise, the day brought presentations of Sato Company's releases, Image Films and H2O Films, which took to the stage the special presences of Denise Fraga, protagonist of "Books Remaining", directed by Marcia Paradiso, Fabiana Karla, who will be in "Mission 171", film in the set phase, and Maria Bopp. Paris Films, in addition to presenting its line up of productions 2025/2026, also ended the day by showing "When Heaven is Wrong", comedy with Aziz Ansari and Keanu Reeves that arrives at the telonas in December 2025.

Among the workshops, Vitrine Filmes brought to EXPOCINE a piece of its already traditional Vitrine Lab, a laboratory focused on training students and audiovisual professionals, to address the release of a film in a practical way. The meeting was held by Elaine Vegnaduzzi, from the distributor's programming team, and went through the main stages of planning the premiere of a production in the cinemas, going from the choice of date to the negotiation with the exhibiting park.

With the theme "Brazil, Window to the World", EXPOCINE will promote until October 3rd, at the Cine Marquise and the Hotel Renaissance, conversations and debates about the historical moment that Brazilian cinema currently lives, consolidating itself as a showcase for the world and opening windows of opportunities for the mobilization and growth of the audiovisual sector in the country and Latin America. There are more than 25 exhibitors, 23 sponsors, 30 supporters, 14 distributors presenting content, three exclusive exhibitions, 15 discussion panels, five workshops, totaling more than 40 hours of content.
