Fun Mind 2 (Disney) does not tire of beating records and apparently, at least in Brazil, there will be no brand left to be beaten by Pixar's emotions. With more than 800,000 tickets sold during the weekend, the animation reached a total audience of 19.97 million by the end of Sunday and became the largest public of all time in Brazil. Even in a challenging scenario, Brazil loses only 5% of public in the first half of the year
Since the end of last year, the market was already aware that 2024 would be a more complicated year for displayers, as many productions this year needed to be postponed to 2025 because of joint strikes that stopped the industry for months. Even with the absence of so many blockbusters, however, it is possible to be optimistic about the result of the box office in Brazil, since the public fell only 5.4% in the first half of 2024, compared to the same period last year.
A survey by the Itaú Cultural Observatory Data Panel pointed out that the creative economy in Brazil recorded an important growth in 2023. The segments that contributed most were fashion, craft activities, publishing industry, audiovisual production, music, software development, digital games and technology services.
The indicative classification of films is a slightly cloudy theme in the audiovisual sector. Not because there are disagreements, but because many links of industry - and also of society - do not fully understand their practical application and the reasons for their existence. It turns out that, in fact, it is not very complex to assimilate, simply understanding the reason for being defined by the government, why there are six different classifications, among other important issues. To understand its concepts, execution and the reason for its application, The Portal Exhibition interviewed Eduardo Nepomuceno, general coordinator at the National Department of Justice, arm of the Ministry of Justice.
