PRODUCER INAUGURES PLASTIC FILMS THE MALLUT DISTRIBUTOR, VOTED TO THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL CINEMA

Celebrated for producing authoral cinema, with long awards and strong communication with the public, the producer Plastic Films takes another step in its trajectory with the creation of the distributor Malute, which arrives in the Brazilian market in September with the premiere of "The Day I Met You", awarded long by André Novais Oliveira.

IMAGE FILMS NEW WEIGHTS WITH MATERIAL AND CONTENTS FOR EXHIBITORS

Image Films announced the release of its new display portal, which has been on the air since the last day 12. The site aims to centralize and facilitate access to the main information and materials related to the company's films, including posters, trailers, spots and calendars. "That's how it ends"

After seven weeks with a Disney film taking first place as the most widely viewed in Brazil ("Diverse Mind 2" and then "D&W"), it was the turn of another distributor to go to the highest post on the podium. With over 850,000 tickets sold on the opening weekend, "That's How It Ends" (Sony) opened in the lead, followed closely by "Deadpool & Wolverine" (Disney), who led the other scenarios and was the second film of the year to exceed $1 billion worldwide.

"THE OTHER TIME" IS ELECTED THE BEST FILM AND "ESTOMY 2" IS THE LONGEST

The 52nd edition of the Gramado Film Festival ended on the night of the 17th and awarded all seven films that competed in the feature film competition. With five kikitos, "Stomach 2: The Godfather" (Downtown/Paris) was the one who most took trophies home, while the winner of the best film was "West Another Time" (O2 Play).

BRAZIL IS BETWEEN THE TEN MOST WORLD VIDEO CONSUMERS

A new study by the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade) showed that Brazil is among the ten countries that had the highest revenue in the on-demand video market (VoD) in 2023, with its population generating an income of $1,952 billion in subscriptions and similar services. Named "Relevant Video Market Analysis under Demand", the study puts the United States in the lead, followed by China and the United Kingdom. Brazil ranks exactly 10th, behind still Japan, Germany, India, Canada, France and South Korea.

DIAMOND FILMS WILL BRING HIGHLIGHT SIGNS ON CANNES FOR THE BRAZILARY MARKET

At the beginning of the month, Diamond Films released a series of films acquired at this year's Cannes Festival to showcase in the Brazilian market. The distributor, worth mentioning, has a long trajectory with large producers and studios of the independent market and this time announced ten productions that were in the festival.

O2 PLAY ANNOUNCES DISTRIBUTION OF "MEGALOPOLIS" IN BRAZIL AND ALREADY CONFIRMS DATE OF STAR FROM THE FILM

O2 Play announced that it will be making the distribution of "Megalopolis", a new drama by Oscar® director and screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola. With the news, Brazilian cinemas can breathe relieved with the guarantee of seeing the work in the cinemas, after the premiere in Cannes, where the film ran for Palma de Ouro and was much commented on. ROTTEN TOMATOES CREATES NEW SELOS OF APPROVING PUBLIC

An important platform used by distributors in the work of film trade and marketing, Rotten Tomatoes announced a new way to raise public opinion within its platform for evaluating series and films. After a series of changes over the years, the service now opens a new public quality seal, the Verified Hot, attributed to productions that have approval above 90% of the public. 

DISNEY SEES STREAMING FOR THE FIRST TIME AND CLOSES TRIMESTRE IN GROWTH

Early in the month, Disney released the financial results of its third fiscal quarter of 2024, which was closed at the end of June. For the first time in history, the company recorded profit in its streaming business, exceeding Wall Street and industry expectations.
