The substitute director-president of the National Cinema Agency - ANCINE, Alex Braga, confirmed presence in Expocine 2020 for the opening panel of the event, "Public Policy Challenges for Audiovisual", on October 15.
In a challenging year for audiovisual in Brazil and the world, when cinemas had to close and filming sets paralyzed their activities for months, Braga will talk about the actions that the Agency has been performing to collaborate with the entire sector at this special moment. The head of a Regulatory, Supervisory and Fostering Agency, the director will present a brief overview of the market and possibilities for the audiovisual industry, based on a new policy of regulation and promotion.
In its management, Braga has been working to solve historical obstacles at the Agency, creating, for example, a oversight dedicated to accountability, with the aim of expanding the operational capacity of the area, allowing more speed in the analysis of projects and enabling the overcoming of a passive process waiting for deliberation. In addition, Ancine works to adopt a new paradigm for monitoring and hiring projects, making them more efficient and transparent.
Alex Braga will also talk about the measures employed for the budget and financial regularization of the Audiovisual Sector Fund (FSA), equating the financial mismatch of the Fund and allowing the maintenance of investments.
Recently, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Special Secretariat of Culture, emergency credit lines to the audiovisual sector and financial aid to small displayers were approved.
They were allocated R $ 400 million from the FSA to credit lines - together with the BNDES and BRDE (Regional Development Bank of the South Far), for maintenance of jobs and preservation of activities of the productive chain of the sector.
Also with resources from the FSA, PEAPE (Special Program for Support to the Small Shower) - in partnership with BRDE - benefited 577 exhibition rooms of 260 complexes, located in all regions of the country. With this non-refundable support for small companies displaying, at least 8,000 direct jobs will be preserved and the cinemas will be able to continue with their activities.
"The presence of the head of the regulatory agency in our sector is very important. Expocine is the first audiovisual market event to take place in 2020 and we want to promote this dialogue between ANCINE and professionals in the area to encourage our industry that needs so much attention," says Marcelo J. L. Lima, Expocine's creator.
Expocine 2020 takes place between October 15th and 16th in a totally virtual format.
